2016 Walt Elliott Yacht Club Challenge Regatta – CBYC Takes the Win Two Years in a Row

April 16, 2016 – Cabrillo Beach, CA – CBYC

Six Yacht Clubs fielded teams to compete in identical Catalina 37s up in the Cabrillo Beach/Los Angeles inner harbor in a stiff Hurricane Gulch Westerly for three spirited races for the Walt Elliott YC Challenge Cup.

ABYC’s skipper Chuck Clay reported in with SCSN:   “It went well for Cabrillo Beach as they ended up winning again this year.   Going into the third and final race we were tied with them with Long Beach YC one point ahead.   We nailed the start and things were going well.  We got into tacking dual with Long Beach YC  after rounding the bottom mark and went left while CBYC ended up going right.  Long Beach YC let them get by and Cabrillo Beach YC took the win and the regatta.  It was a lot of fun and very competitive.”
