Stormvogel Sailing Footage from the 1965 Transpac

SoCal Sailor and Yacht Designer Doug Peterson shot this footage from on-board the 73′ Ketch Stormvogel in the 1965 Transpac.  He was 18 years old at the time.

Stormvogel was a creation from the Dutch Yacht Designer Van de Stadt and was campaigned all over the world in the 1960s.  She made a couple of Transpac appearances (winning overall in 1967) and was berthed in Alamitos Bay in Long Beach before those races.  She is still sailing at this time in the Carribean,

SCSN at the E-Scow Nationals – Crystal Lake. MI

Your SCSN Editor is  off to Crystal Lake, MI this week to work RC at the E Scow Nationals.  77 boats are registered at what promises to be a fantastic event with serious sailing talent.

The RC team I have been a part of for over a decade worked this event last year on Lake Geneva and are looking forward to introducing to this year’s event.

At the high level events our team has worked at over the last decade we have been posting results live so that competitors and sailing fans alike can see what the score of the game is real time.  Sailboat racing is one of the only sporting events left where no one knows what the score of the game is when it is happening!  We have been changing that. will be posting special reports this week.  If you are not familiar with scow sailing in the Midwest US you are in for a real treat.
